Steps to make suji with domestic atta chakki

Step 1:

Clean the durum wheat thoroughly because if it contains any stone or metal, the cutter or blades of the atta chakki will break, and you will have to buy new cutter blades for the atta chakki.

Also, clean the entire atta chakki, especially the chamber, for any residue from the previous grinding. Because if there is some residue of different grains like bajra or rice, the suji will have a different taste, and you will waste the flour without using it.

You can clean the atta chakki and grinding chamber with the help of a soft non-metallic brush.

For more convenience and perfect cleaning, you can also use a good quality vacuum cleaner or blower to clean the atta chakki, and I highly recommend you do it.

Step 2:

Ensure no moisture is present in wheat grains, which means you only have to use dry wheat grains. If you use moist or wet wheat, the grinding chamber will be choked up instantly, and lumps formation will occur.

Step 3:

Every domestic atta chakki comes with 6 to 10 sieves or jalis(mess) to get the desired size of flour. Please select the appropriate jali, fix it properly and close the door of atta chakki.

Step 4:

Fill the durum wheat (rice, in case you want rava) according to the size of the hopper of the atta chakki. Fix the wire into a power socket and switch it ON.

Step 5:

The atta chakki will give you an alarm once the hopper is empty. Let the atta chakki stop itself.

Step 6:

Switch OFF the atta chakki, plug out the electric cord from the power socket and open the door. Carefully remove the collecting drum in which the suji is collected.

How To Make Suji At Home Without Atta Chakki?

If you do not have a domestic atta chakki or flour mill machine, you can use a mixer grinder to make suji.

Steps to make suji at home without atta chakki:

Step 1:

Take the required volume of durum wheat and thoroughly clean it. Please ensure that the wheat is completely dry and has no moisture content; otherwise, upon grinding, it will become sticky, and you will not be able to separate the desired size from the course material.

Step 2:

Add the durum wheat into the mixer and switch ON the mixer.

After 10 seconds, open the lid of the mixer jar and check if the wheat is uniformly ground. Once it is done, remove the jar and use a cloth to sieve it or filter it.

Step 3:

You will see that the coarse material will not be filtered, but the semi-coarse small material will be able to come out from the cloth.

Step 4:

Collect the filtered flour in a separate jar, and your suji is ready!

This method is the easiest method to make suji without atta chakki. You can use this method when you occasionally need a small amount of suji.

You cannot make more suji with this method, which is quite laborious and manual.
